Editorial Standards
How we write, source, review, and correct our health information β and its limits.
Grand Rapids Care publishes plain-language health information to help families in Grand Rapids and Kent County, Michigan understand conditions, care options, and coverage. This page explains how that content is produced and its limits.
How our articles are made
- Sourced from public health authorities. Our general health explainers are compiled and adapted from reputable public health sources β including U.S. government and public health bodies (e.g. CDC, NIH/MedlinePlus, FDA, CMS) and established non-profit health organizations β and rewritten in plain language.
- Localized for West Michigan. We add local context and real local resources (clinics, hospitals, and support services) where relevant.
- Reviewed by our editorial team for clarity, accuracy against the cited sources, and consistency before publishing.
What this content is β and isn’t
- It is general health information, not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional.
- We do not currently publish individual named-clinician review bylines. When an article references a specific external source, we link to it. If we add formal clinical review in the future, we will name reviewers and their credentials here.
- Always consult a licensed clinician about your specific situation, and in an emergency call 911 (or call/text 988 for a mental-health crisis).
Sources and citations
Where an article relies on a specific dataset or authority, we link to it inline or in the article’s resources. Our public-data modules (provider ratings, official records) document their sources and import dates on the Methodology page.
Corrections
We fix errors promptly. If you spot something inaccurate or out of date, please contact us with the page and the issue, and we will review it.
Independence
Editorial content is separate from advertising and provider listings. Providers cannot pay to change health articles or to remove negative reviews. See our Disclosures and Review Policy.
